Sheffield University has played host to both top-flight and unknown bands for over 50 years, on the main stage, in the lower refectory, also known as “Bar 2” and “The Maze”. Also since 1983 in the Octagon Centre.

During the late 60s / early 70s, the University circuit was highly popular among progressive & rock acts, where they knew the audience were likely to be more appreciative of their talents! It also allowed fans to enjoy themselves a little bit more than the City Hall, where bouncers tried to ensure everyone sat down!
