Arctic Monkeys

2002 - date

Emerging from the city’s High Green area, they became one of the most successful British bands of the 2000s after early demos spread rapidly online and through CD sharing before social media became widespread.

Their debut album, Whatever People Say I Am, That's What I'm Not (2006), became the fastest-selling debut album in UK chart history at the time. Later albums including Favourite Worst Nightmare (2007), AM (2013), and The Car (2022) helped establish them internationally, blending indie rock with garage rock, psychedelic, lounge and soul influences.

Alex Turner (vox, guitar) / Jamie Cook (guitar) / Andy Nicholson then Nick O'Malley (bass) / Matt Helders (drums)
