Quiet Life / Thief

1980 - 84

Quiet Life were a classic rock band formed in Sheffield in 1980. The band wrote their own material and rehearsed in the 'Leadmill' before it was renovated. The band played all the local venues, Marples, George 1V, The Saddle, Blue Bell, Leadmill and Sheffield University Christmas Ball. A demo was recorded at the Playground Studio in Wragby nr Lincoln, which got us airplay on Radio Sheffield & Hallam.

A change in direction saw the band morph into Thief, who developed a harder rock sound. Thief played all over the north of England including repeat dates at the Marples and the Leadmill. They called it a day in 1984, we got through more drummers then Spinal Tap!! We were saved by the legendary Malc James of Barabbas who sat in on the drum stool for the last 6 months of the band.

We still get together and reminisce about 'the good old days' and we all still dabble in music, but at a much more sedate pace. Tim Dawson & Shaun Hudson wrote the majority of Quiet Life & Thief's songs, they both still write and record original music.
