Septic Fatality

2008 - 13

Septic Fatality was a Sheffield speed/thrash metal band active between 2008 and 2013. Formed by guitarist Niall Roberts and drummer Ian Taylor, the band drew inspiration from classic Bay Area thrash and British heavy metal, combining the aggressive sound of Slayer, Testament, Overkill, Megadeth and Municipal Waste with their own energetic live style.

Septic Fatality quickly established themselves on the Yorkshire metal circuit, performing throughout northern England and supporting touring acts including Evile and Wolf at Sheffield Corporation. They also appeared in the Corporation Battle of the Bands Final in July 2012 and played numerous shows at Sheffield venues such as The Dove & Rainbow, earning a reputation for high-energy performances and old-school thrash riffs.

In October 2012 the band independently released their debut EP, Into the Tomb, featuring the tracks:

Into the Tomb / Sadistic Maniac / Chuck Her in the Cooker

The EP was recorded at The Stag Works studio in Sheffield and received positive reviews from local metal fans and online publications. Although the band announced plans for a UK tour and a second EP, Septic Fatality disbanded in October 2013 after five years together. Despite their relatively short career, they remain remembered as part of Sheffield's thriving underground metal scene of the late 2000s and early 2010s, alongside bands that helped keep traditional thrash metal alive in South Yorkshire.
