Merruwyn - Live at the Grosvenor

The only album released by the English folk duo Merruwyn was recorded live at the Grosvenor House Hotel in Sheffield in 1974. It was originally issued on the small Fanfare label and has since become a sought-after collector’s item among fans of British folk and acid folk. This recording is also a useful document of the live folk scene in the city during the mid-1970s, when the Grosvenor House Hotel regularly hosted folk clubs and concerts.

The duo consisted of: Ann Galvin and Theresa O’Brien. Their close vocal harmonies and understated acoustic arrangements have drawn comparisons with groups such as Mellow Candle and Tudor Lodge. The repertoire mixed traditional folk songs with contemporary material.
