It would be remiss of us not to mention that one of Sheffield’s best known outfits PULP have a new album due out. After all they don’t come along that often. Every 24 years it seems! Cheekily titled MORE it has been getting good reviews amongst those given preview copies (we’ll be off up to Record Collector for ours, where else?). Meantime we’re just puzzling over whereabouts in the Peak District they shot the great cover pic*. Say the nice people over at Truck Music:
“energised and anthemic but not afraid to reflect on ageing and facing a new phase of their lives… Jarvis wryly noting at one point “you’ve gone from all you that could be to all that you once were”. From zippy, disco-tinged anthems to reflective nostalgic meditations, to some of the most lushly beautiful arrangements of their career, the album delivers on every front; musically, lyrically and most importantly in reinforcing their legacy as a truly great band.”
Truck by the way are an online indie store Simon recommends if you don’t have access to a decent local shop, and as such they can offer buyers the special marbled vinyl edition not available elsewhere.
