Music Junkee

Ground Floor, 7 Earl Street

Music Junkee was a well-known independent Sheffield music shop that specialised in new and used musical instruments, recording equipment, PA gear, repairs, equipment hire and sheet music. It operated from 7 Earl Street, just off The Moor in Sheffield city centre.

The business was incorporated as Music Junkee Limited in 2009 and initially traded from Cambridge Street before relocating to Earl Street in 2016.

What made Music Junkee distinctive was its heavy emphasis on:

  • Used and vintage instruments.
  • Part-exchange deals.
  • Repairs and servicing.
  • Recording and live-sound equipment.
  • A close connection with Sheffield’s local music scene.

The shop was closely associated with Record Junkee, the neighbouring record shop, live venue and bar. Together they formed a music hub on Earl Street, serving both musicians and record collectors. Record Junkee became known nationally for its large vinyl stock and live events programme.

In recent years the Music Junkee brand appears to have been absorbed into or replaced by The Sheffield Music Store, which continues the instrument retail side of the business nearby.
