Musical Sounds was a small independent musical instrument shop on London Road, Sheffield, run by Johnny Dodds. People who remember the shop from the 1970s and 1980s recall buying guitars, amplifiers and other instruments there. An upstairs room had second-hand guitars and equipment.
It was one of several independent music shops that served Sheffield’s musicians before the rise of large chain stores. The shop appears to have closed many years ago, but it is still remembered by local musicians who bought their first instruments there. One remembers it as “small and pokey but full of nice gear”.
An earlier shop with the same name was situated at 236 Bramall Lane, which we assume were the same people.
The building is currently a computer shop.
