Wizard Guitars is one of Sheffield’s best-known independent guitar shops, specialising in new, used, vintage and collectible guitars, basses, amplifiers and effects. The business has built a strong reputation among local musicians for its extensive stock, knowledgeable staff, and in-house repair and setup service.
The original Wizard Guitars business was founded in the early 1990s by guitarist and dealer Richard “The Welsh Wizard” Evans. Evans had been collecting and dealing in instruments since the late 1960s and established the shop with a focus on traditional customer service and quality vintage instruments. Wizard operated for many years from Ecclesall Road before ownership changed in the mid-2010s.
Wizard has long been popular with Sheffield guitarists because customers can try instruments in-store and obtain specialist setup work. The shop’s technician is advertised as having around 30 years’ experience in guitar repair and setup.
