Vice Versa

Situated on Infirmary Road on the relative outskirts of the city centre, the George IV pub as a hotbed of gigs during the 80s & 90s. Bands of all genres played in the spacious, slightly gloomy upstairs room, but it is perhaps best remembered for the less conventional acts such as The Negatives, Clock DVA, Stunt Kites, I’m So Hollow, Comsat Angels and Artery. For a while it hosted the Blitz Club.
One infamous gig was Sheffield prog legends Haze, whose bassist Chris McMahon played a bass with fireworks attached and nearly set fire to his Santa beard!
